PURPOSE:To perform stable development operation, regardless of a development mechanism energized with an energizing means toward a rotary drum, thereby obtaining a development device to ensure stable image formation. CONSTITUTION:A development mechanism 24 is so supported on a frame body as to be freely movable in both approach and retreat directions from a rotary drum 26. The development mechanism 24 includes a development housing 28, and a developer application means 40 mounted thereon via a support axis means 42. Also, a pair of interval setting rollers 50 and 52 are so fitted to both sides of the developer application means 40 as to be freely rotatable. Furthermore, energizing means 72 and 74 are laid to energize the development mechanism 24 in a direction for approaching the rotary drum 26. The pair of the interval setting rollers 50 and 52 are kept in contact with the surface of the rotary drum 26 due to the energizing force, and the development mechanism 24 is thereby kept at the predetermined development position, relative with the rotary drum 26. The energizing means 72 and 74 are so constituted as to energize the development mechanism 24 in a direction for approaching the drum 26 via the support axis means 42 of the developer application means 40. |
