PURPOSE:To solve the complicated constitution of an electric system, and to realize an optical homodyne detection system. CONSTITUTION:The incident rays of a narrow-band semiconductor laser 1 are divided into a main signal ray and a local ray by a coupler 4, and the main signal ray is modulated by two acousto-optical switches (both not shown) and is simultaneously turned into an optical pulse. At that time, since the two acousto-optical switches are modulated by 120MHz to the plus primary side and to the minus primary side respectively, after the back scattered ray of the main signal optical pulse that has been incident on a test optical fiber and the local ray have been synthesized, the signal received by a light-receiving element 7 is turned into a base band signal. Thus, an optical pulse tester by means of optical homodyne detection can be realized. |
