Fish bones (9) are removed from fish (8) by means of a device which includes a housing (3) which accommodates a rotatable roller (1). The roller (1) is provided with bone-engagement means (2) which pass across an opening (4) in the housing (3) as the roller rotates. Mounted at that end of the opening (4) to which the engagement means (2) move during rotation of the roller (1) is a counter-pressure device (6) and a gap is defined between the counter-pressure device (6), at the free edge (7) thereof adjacent the opening (4), and the engagement means (2). Fish bones (9) partially enter the gap and are clamped or pinched between the free edge (7) and the bone-engagement means (2), so as to be drawn from the flesh of the fish (8) as the roller (1) rotates, while the fish flesh (8) from which bone is withdrawn is held in place by that side of the counter-pressure device (6) which faces towards the flesh (8). |
