ADAPTOR AND COVER FOR OPGW JUNCTION BOX AND ITS APPLICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To joint a newly installed optical fiber cable to the optical fiber of an OPGW easily by a method wherein an adaptor or a cover which converts an existing 2-inlet type OPGW junction box which has the OPGW inlets only into a multi-inlet type junction box which has at least 3 inlets is provided. CONSTITUTION:An adaptor 3 is added to the main part 1 of an existing junction box. The adaptor 3 has an optical fiber cable inlet 4 and its opening can be closed with an existing cover 2. If a newly installed optical fiber cable is introduced into the junction box through the inlet 4, it is not necessary to replace the whole junction box. Therefore, the processes of cutting and re-fusion splice of the already jointed optical fibers of an OPGW can be minimized compared to the conventional constitution. Instead of using the adaptor 3, the cover 2 may be replaced with a cover having an optical fiber cable inlet. In this case, the same effect can be obtained and the newly installed optical fiber cable can be jointed easily.
