An aromatic compound of the formula: <CHEM> wherein R<1> and R<2> are, the same or different, a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a methyl group with the proviso that either one of R<1> or R<2> is a hydrogen atom; R<3> is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and R<4> is a halogen atom, a C1-C2 alkyl group or a C1-C2 haloalkyl group, which is useful for control of insect pests.
