PURPOSE:To keep excellent lubricity under various working conditions and to make a lubricating effect durable over a long period by incorporating the salt of a carboxylic acid having a double bond at its terminal and an amine into a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The salt of a carboxylic acid having a double bond at its terminal and an amine expressed by the general formula CH2=CH(CH2)nCOO<->H3N<+> CR (where (n) is an integer of >=1, and R is a hydrocarbonic group with carbon number >=1) is incorporated into a lubricating layer 3 as the topcoat on a magnetic layer 2. The compd. is preferably applied at 1-20mg/m<2>, and can be used jointly with the well-known lubricant, extreme pressure agent and rust preventive. The friction coefficient can be reduced by this compd. due to its good lubricity, the lubricity is not deteriorated even under severe conditions at low temp., etc., and the traveling property and durability of the magnetic recording medium are improved. |
