The invention relates to a chopping and shearing device for wood, which device is constituted by a chopping and shearing unit 3 which is displaceable by means of a pressure cylinder 1 along a vertical beam 2 and in which there is a V-shaped shearing cutter 4 and a chopping cutter 5, which latter appears at right angles relative to the cutter plane. Beneath the chopping and shearing unit 3, there is correspondingly a second chopping and shearing unit 6 fixed to the lower part of the vertical beam 2, so that in the final stage of the shearing, the shearing cutters 4, 7 pass each other, like the blades in a pair of scissors, and on the outer end of the chopping cutters 5, 8 there are chopping-enhancing cutter parts 9, 10, such as diagonally shorn-off axle journals. <IMAGE>
