PURPOSE:To obtain a Chinese pharmaceutical, containing a herb medicine containing at least either or both of Paeoniae Radix and Ligustici Radix as an active ingredient and useful for treating dementia. CONSTITUTION:A therapeutic agent for dementia containing a herb medicine containing at least either or both of Ligustici Radix and Paeoniae Radix [SHIMOTSU-TO (composed of the Ligustici Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Paeoniae Radix, etc.) etc., are cited as a Chinese herbal recipe]. The Paenoiae Radix or Ligustici Radix alone is preferably used. The aforementioned (mixed) herb medicine is extracted with water while it is hot. After solid-liquid separation, the resultant liquid is concentrated and dried to afford dried extract powder, which is then formulated according to a conventional method to prepare the objective therapeutic agent for dementia. |
