PURPOSE:To provide a dim method and device for performing a fade-in fade-out control by detecting a brightness at an actual TV studio or theater, determining a motion quantity based on a difference between the brightness at a current timing and the brightness at a next timing, and moving up/down data numerically by a zero cross counter. CONSTITUTION:A controlling device for a dim circuit using a zero cross timer comprises a plural incandecent lamps and fluorescent lamps, a central controlling device for controlling the lighting loads, a total control panel to give instructions to the central controlling device, and a remote control operating means for transmitting an infrared ray beam to the total control panel for operation at a remote place.
