A method of deoxidising inert gases by means of reducing the oxygen contained in the said gases with hydrogen on a catalyst containing palladium situated on γ-Al2O3 carrier, characterized in that the catalyst contains 0.05-0.2 percent by weight of palladium and 0.005-0.05 percent by weight of iron, and the deoxidising process is conducted at a temperature between 15 and 350 degrees C with the load of the gaseous phase on the catalyst equal to, in conversion to normal conditions, 5.0-20m<3>/kgkat x h.
