PURPOSE:To provide an automobile shift controller which automatically shifts gears according to the operating condition of an automobile and the condition of the road ahead (gradient, etc.). CONSTITUTION:An electronic control circuit 7 is provided for calculating on the basis of engine speed 3, vehicle speed 5 and engine load signal 6, etc., a gear stage which does not disturb operation of a vehicle and at which fuel consumption rates are small. Means are provided for inputting to the electronic control circuit 7 road information 2 transmitted from beacons provided along a road. If a signal indicative of shift to another gear is calculated, a gear shift is not immediately executed but performed after consideration on the condition of the road ahead. Thereby a gear shift can be automatically performed as does a skilled driver after considering the condition of the road ahead, when there is a slope or curve ahead. |
