PURPOSE:To enable electricity to be collected evenly from the whole ends of a spiral assembled element, by placing spongelike metal bodies on both the bottom and the top of the assembled element, and by caulking a sealing plate to make the metal bodies touch the assembled element. CONSTITUTION:A circular lath plate 2 having a thickness of several mm. is welded and fixed to the inner-bottom surface of a cylindrical case 1 which also serves as a negative terminal. An assembled element 3 consists of positive plates 4, negative plates 5, and separators A each of which is placed between the plate 4 and the plate 5, and these are coiled into a spiral form. Ends 5a of the negative plates 5 are extruded from the bottom of the assembled element 3, and ends 4a of the positive plates 4 are extruded from the top of the element 3. A spongelike porous metal body 6 having a three-dimensionally continuous structure, the assembled element 3, a spongelike porous metal body 7 having a three-dimensionally continuous struture, are inserted in a case 1, in that order. After that, a sealing plate 8 which is provided with a gasket 12 is fitted in the case 1, before the opened end of the case 1 is caulked to make the sealing plate 8 to be fastened. The fastening of the sealing plate 8 compesses the spongelike metal bodies 6 and 7 to make these bodies touch the ends of the assembled element 3, and plate ends 5a and 4a encroach upon the bodies 6 and 7. |
