<p>PURPOSE:To attain traveling control matched with the driving sense of a driver of a vehicle even in the case of driving in rain in a traveling controller for vehicle which controls the speed of the vehicle in accordance with the distance from the preceding car. CONSTITUTION:A degree-of-danger calculating means 26, calculates the degree of danger by using fuzzy inference based on detection signals from a laser radar equipment 20, a vehicle speed sensor 22, a steering angle sensor 24 and a rain amount sensor 25. An appropriate distance between vehicles in calculated with L=G1X(1+D)XLo, where the degree of danger is denoted with D, a gain distance between vehicles with G1 and a reference distance between vehicles with Lo. An appropriate speed manipulating variables control means 30 calculates a manipulating compensation variables and a control gain with fuzzy inference based on the speed of its own vehicle, the appropriate distance between vehicles, relative velocity and the amount of rain. The manipulating compensation variables and the control gain are supplied to a throatle actuator 32 and a breaking actuator 34, and the travelling is controlled in accordance with the amount of rain.</p> |
