PURPOSE: To prevent failures and breakages of a generating unit in the coupling operation state temporarily, even after the main cooling/lubricating functions go out of order by a method, wherein a gravity supply type fluid passage through which a fluid in an auxiliary reservoir section chamber provided in a generator casing supplements the main cooling/lubricating functions. CONSTITUTION: If a pressurized oil system fails and the quantity of oil in a main reservoir 60 is not sufficient for operation, oil in an auxiliary reservoir 44 is distributed by gravity to lubricate main bearings 24 and 26. This process is performed by the gravity of a cup-end casing 14 through waste fluid passages 140 and 142 and gravity supply passages 144, 146 and 148. The supply of reserved oil through the passages 142 and 146 of a generator core is continued, until all the oil level in the auxiliary reservoir is below the race of the bearings. The oil from the gravity supply passages is returned to the auxiliary reservoir by the action of a rotor, which causes the recirculation of the reserved oil. |
