PURPOSE:To increase the capacity of the device for treating the exhaust gas from a diesel engine, etc., to enhance the strength in supporting a filter element constituting a filter, to maintain high capacity and to make the filter compact. CONSTITUTION:Many honeycomb filter elements 41 of a ceramic are arranged in parallel, and the elements are clamped by a couple of side plates 42 and 43 having an L-shaped cross section to constitute a filter 40. The capacity of the filter 40 in treating an exhaust gas is drastically increased by the many elements 41. The filter is made compact and surely clamped by the side plates 42 and 43, hence the supporting strength and durability are enhanced, and high capacity is maintained for a long time. |
