<p>PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy and the reliability of the operation of a system which monitors and warns an automobile of the situation at the time of its deviation from a running lane. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with first and second sensors 1 and 7 which face the surface of a road and are closely arranged by a light source 3, and outputs of both sensors 1 and 7 are connected to inputs of a comparison circuit 8. When light emitted from the light source is reflected on the surface of the road, reflected beams are simultaneously made incident on sensors from two different color surfaces of the road surface which correspond to the bare road surface material and a white or yellow line and the other specific markers respectively; and if intensities of light of these reflected beams are different, the comparison circuit 8 generates an output signal by outputs generated by sensors to energize an alarm circuit.</p> |
