A timber grab comprises two claws 5,5' which can be pivoted to and fro about an axle 6 and the tips 7,7' of which meet whenever the grab closes around a load. Between the two claws 5,5' there is arranged a flexible band 8, which at one end at least is wound onto a rotatably mounted reel 10 actuated by a spring force which is always striving to wind the band onto the reel. When the claws are parted, the band can be drawn out from the reel against the action of the said spring force so as to be resiliently braced against the top side of a load which is gripped by the claws. <IMAGE> |
