PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the characteristic of the title element caused by the thermal degeneration of biopolymers by forming an upper facing electrode by scooping up an electrode forming material film stripped off and floating on the surface of water onto an active layer. CONSTITUTION:After a transparent electrode 3 is formed on a transparent substrate 4 by using an indium-tin oxide, etc., a photoelectric conversion active layer 1 is formed on the electrode 3. photosynthetic granules of chromatophore, etc., derived from photosynthetic bacteria are used as the biopolymer complex for constituting the layer 1. The layer 1 is dried to a solidified film after formation. Then an upper facing electrode 2 is formed. The thin film of an electrode forming material is vacuum-deposited on a substrate composed of slide glass, etc. Then one side of the boundary of the deposited film 8 is brought into contact with the surface of distilled water 9 by putting the glass in the water 9 so as to allow the water 9 to get into the interface between the glass 7 and film 8 and the glass 7 is sunk in accordance with the progress of the stripping off of the film 8 so as to make the film 8 to float on the surface of the water 9. After the film 8 floats on the surface, the substrate 4 is pulled out from the water and the floating film 8 is scooped up onto the layer 1. The film 8 is dried and this photoelectric conversion element is formed. |
