The separator includes: - a casing forming a fairing (10) comprising an inlet (12) for air laden with the substances to be separated off and an outlet (14) for the air discharged; - a housing (18, 20) arranged inside the said casing (10), comprising an opening (22) into which the air inlet (12) opens outs and perforations for allowing air to pass which is then discharged through the air outlet (14); - a rotary air lock (32) of the type with a cellular wheel, to collect the particles of substances separated from the air flow, these particles being discharged by means of an orifice (36) provided in the lower part of the said rotary air lock, this separator being characterised in that the side walls of the air lock are made in the form of removable flanks (42, 42') which are provided with disengagement components (44, 44') defining volumes projecting outwards. <IMAGE>
