The invention covers means used by fishing boats, particularly those involved in tuna fishing, for detecting concentrations of fish. The system comprises a device (10) for detecting concentrations of fish, and for transmitting information about the location of the fish and the conditions for fishing (state of the sea, local fish stocks, etc); a satellite system (21, 22, 23) for location and data collection; and an interrogation station (30) on the fishing boats or auxiliary installations, the station comprising means (31) for transmitting instructions for the selective activation of the transmitting means in the device (10) and means (33) for receiving the information transmitted by the said maritime device and the said satellite system for location and data collection. <IMAGE>
