A device for the detection of visible discharges occurring in a closed vessel and the equipping of an electrical control panel with such a device. The device comprises a sensing fibre 1 consisting of at least one section of fluorescent optical fibre of length equal to or less than the optimum transmission length of this type of fibre, this fibre being connected to an ordinary transmission optical fibre 2, one end of which leads to the outside of the said vessel, this fibre being connected to a photo-detector. <IMAGE>
