PURPOSE:To provide an automatic focusing device which sets the position of a lens when its focal point cannot be detected, based on past information on a distance from the lens to an object. CONSTITUTION:The automatic focusing device provided with a distance- information detecting means 100 which detects distance-information corresponding to the distance from the lens to an object, outputs the distance-information when it is detected, and outputs a distance-information undetectable signal when it is not detected and a lens driving means 101 which drives a photographic lens to the focusing position based on the outputted distance-information is comprised of a storage means 102 for storing lens-position-information determined based on the obtained distance-information and a lens driving control means 103 for controlling the lens driving means 101 in such a manner that when the distance-information undetectible signal is outputted, it drives the photographic lens based on the lens-position-information, and when the distance- information is outputted, it drives the photographic lens to the position of the adjusted focal point based on the distance-information. |
