PURPOSE: To make compatible a computer system having an absolute position pointing device and a computer system having a relative displacement pointing device with each other. CONSTITUTION: The coordinate processor for computer system having the absolute position pointing device like a touch screen includes a stimulus detection means (200) which detects a contact stimulus or the absolute position pointing device directed toward one point in a data display area of the computer system. This processor includes coordinate lock means (210 to 320) which lock the present cursor position at the point corresponding to a stimulus in the display area in accordance with this stimulus which exceeds a predeterminate threshold. This processor distinguishes a stimuls of the pointing device for repositioning of the cursor in the data display area from that of the pointing device through which the computer system outputs a button click command.
