Contact cable entry through the trunnion of a plating barrel rotating about its horizontal axis, with the cable passing through the hollow trunnion and projecting into the barrel sloping downwards, is covered by an electrically insulating protection sleeve terminating in a sealed cathode contact bulb. The protection sleeve from trunnion exit to contact bulb is a rigid tube of corrosion and wear resistant material, pref. high density polyethylene, pivotted on the trunnion. Pref. the protection tube (54) is pivotted on the trunnion by means of a sealed spherical bearing (58) screwed on the outside of the tube. Movement of the tube is constrained in the vertical plane by a fixed pin (64) in the trunnion, which engages a groove (62) in the spherical bearing. ADVANTAGE - Provides an improved cable entry arrangement with substantially extended service life.
