The control lever (8) for the fuel injector regulator is positioned by a rod (7) whose piston (6) moves in a pressure cylinder (4), against a spring. The cylinder is connected to the accelerator pedal. A pipe (9) can convey compressed air from reservoir (10) to the engine side of the piston, when a valve (12) is activated by the electromagnetic relay (16). The relay is active for a fixed time (say 2 seconds) after starting, and thus for this time, the effective stroke of the rod (7) is shorter because the piston is forced towards the end of the cylinder against the spring. This position admits the correct fuel quantity for hot-starting. USE/ADVANTAGE - Starting device for compression ignition engines in commercial vehicles; prevents fuel flooding when engine is hot.
