<p>A system for implanting an acetabular cup prosthesis (36) includes an instrument (1) and a disposable adapter (32). The disposable adapter (32) engages the prosthesis (36) and is supported on the instrument (1). The instrument (1) is effective for orienting, inserting and impacting the prosthesis (36) for implantation, after which the adapter (32) is removed from the instrument (1) for disposal. The adapter (32) and the prosthesis (36) may be arranged as a pre-implantation assembly, thereby reducing the overall implantation time as is desirable. <IMAGE></p> |
