Color filter for a charge coupled device is prepared by (A) forming a transparent flatterned layer on the photodiodes arranged in a matrix form on a semiconductor substrate, while forming a corrosion-preventing layer on the metal conductive film, (B) forming at least two different dyed layers with spectroscopic characteristics and intermediate layers on the flattened layer, (C) forming a protecting film thereon, and (D) forming an opening in the pad region.
