PURPOSE:To enhance a printing speed by improving the cooling capacity of a thermal head for deep layer recording. CONSTITUTION:An yellow thermal head 14 for developing an yellow thermal color forming layer of a shallow layer, a magenta thermal head 15 for developing a magenta thermal color forming layer of a middle layer and a cyan thermal head 16 for developing a cyan thermal color forming layer of a deep layer are arranged to the outer periphery of a platen drum 10. The yellow and magenta thermal heads 14, 15 have one heating lines wherein a large number of heating elements are arranged but the cyan thermal head 16 has two heating lines wherein a large number of heating elements are arranged at a constant pitch in order to rapidly perform heating and cooling. The cyan thermal head generates a large quantity of heat but, since a plurality of the heating lines are provided in a divided form, said head is rapidly cooled. A whole printing speed can be increased with the increase of a cooling speed. |
