1531099 Controlling burners CHAFFOTEAUX ET MAURY 6 April 1976 [14 April 1975] 13918/76 Heading F4T A burner includes a heat-sensitive element 8 located on the axis of a flame 1 so as to be slightly downstream of the blue core 6 under normal conditions, and means for surrounding the base of the flame with a continuous or discontinuous ring of flamelets 9 produced by combustion of the same gas mixture. The flame 1 is formed at an orifice 3 defined by a bush 13 at the end of a gas supply duct 2, a small portion of the gas passing through holes 12 in a frustoconical or planar wall 15 to chamber 11 defined by the bush 13, the wall 15 and a removable collar 16 to issue from a continuous circular opening 10 between the bush 13 and the collar 16 to form a continuous ring of flamelets. Alternatively, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the flamelets 9 may issue from a series of circularlydisposed openings in an end wall 18 of the duct 2. The flame 1 may be a pilot flame for igniting main burners 4, and to aid this further flamelets 21 may issue from openings 20 in the collar 16. |
