摘要 PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive, small and safe artificial heart by providing electrodes and an impedance measuring means for applying AC and measuring the impedance and the blood flow on the blood inflow side and blood outflow side of the pulsatile flow type artificial heart. CONSTITUTION:An air chamber (a) is made the negative pressure by the driving device 4 of an artificial heart 1, a diaphragm (b) is pulled to open a valve (c) and close a valve (d), and blood is sucked into a blood chamber (e). The positive-pressure air is fed to the air chamber (a) from the driving device 4, the diaphragm (b) is pushed back to close the valve (c) and open the valve (d), and blood is pushed out from the blood chamber (e). When these actions are repeated, the artificial heart 1 functions as a blood pump. An impedance measuring instrument 5 is connected to electrodes 2, 3, when AC is applied across both electrodes 2, 3 and the impedance is measured, the impedance is changed in response to the change of the blood quantity in the blood chamber (e) of the artificial heart 1 by the movement of the diaphragm (b).
