PURPOSE: To obtain a color image of a high quality by carrying a dye-migration barrier layer and an image-receiving layer in order for a thermal dye transfer image to be contained between the image-receiving layer and the dye-migration barrier layer to one surface of a paper sheet. CONSTITUTION: An intermediate dye-receiving element carries a dye image receiving layer to a polymer film such as, for example, a polycarbonate or the like to a support of a poly(estersulfone). The dye-migration barrier layer limits possibility of developing a transferred halftone dye image dots by moving on paper substrate. A polymer binder of the dye donor element and the polymer or the like of the dye image receiving layer of the intermediate dye receiving layer is used as a material. The support coated with the polymer layer of the dye migration barrier layer and the paper substrate are passed between a pair of heated rollers to form a laminate, then the support is released, and a final receiving is formed. To expedite the release, a release agent is contained in the dye migration barrier layer and the support or therebetween. |
