The operation of a flatbed knitter, to finish the end of a fashioned knitted section, forms a final row with an end yarn in a double stroke row of stitches in a rib knit in a 1 x 3 draw-off construction. The end yarn is passed in a zig-zag between the leading and trailing needle beds above the gap between the needle beds. The teeth of a take-off comb are lowered into the gap between the needle beds, through the yarn of the double rib knit rows, to a point below the needle bed gap. A further end yarn is fed in, for a second double stroke tubular row to be knitted to form the start of the next fashioned fabric section, and the next section is knitted. |
