PURPOSE:To detect runaway promptly and without taking any trouble of a user himself when the value of a program counter indicates an address not written in a program. CONSTITUTION:An emulation chip 4 is an interface chip with an in-circuit emulator(ICE) 1, a microcomputer 2, and a RAM 3, and a supervisor 5 has a CPU to control the whole ICE 1, and the write of the program to the RAM 3 is transferred from an auxiliary storage device such as a floppy disk, etc., through the emulation chip 4 by an instruction from the supervisor. A runaway detection circuit 7 is incorporated in the emulation chip 4, and it decodes data outputted from the RAM 3 of a program memory, and when some specified data is outputted, it outputs the code of a break instruction to the microcomputer 2. |
