The present invention relates to the control of axial flows and of heat transfers in channel induction furnaces. The method consists in reducing the magnetic losses by the addition of additional primary inductor windings, suitably arranged and excited on the ferromagnetic core. The invention finds application in all cases in which it is desired to increase the heat and mass transfers in the branches of channel furnaces, as well as the longevity of the refractory linings which constitute the walls of the channels; it is also used when it is desired to improve the power factor (cos phi ) of the installation. <IMAGE>
