<??>It relates to an apparatus which comprises a first-stage regulator (20) receiving energy from an A.C. supply network, a circuit (16) for controlling the lamp, having an input connected to the output of the first-stage regulator and an output intended to be connected to a fluorescent lamp (12), a first and second device intended to transmit output signals representative of the current and of the voltage of the lamp, a multiplier device (30) intended to multiply the output signals of the first and second device and to give a signal representative of the power of the lamp, and a device (32) for regulating the power of the lamp.
