<??>A deformation element includes a hollow beam (1) and a deformation member (2) having a smaller diameter, intended to fold, under the action of a force, towards the inside of the hollow beam, bearing at its front face on the hollow beam (1) through the use of a flange (4) pointing radially outwards; the deformation member (2) tightens up conically as it moves away from the hollow beam (1); furthermore, the hollow beam (1) is produced in the form of a beam which buckles by crumpling, bearing, in the deformed state, via at least one fold (9) on the periphery of the deformation member (2) which has been folded over inwards.
