This invention relates to a machine for cutting blocks of stone to produce variously shaped members. The machine 1 substantially comprises: a frame 2 supporting a pair of flywheels 3-4 one above the other on which a diamond- coated wire ring 5 is wound, the said frame 2 being supported by a moving structure 10 capable of performing vertical upward and downward movements and rotational movements about a first horizontal axis A, said frame 2 also being capable of oscillating about a second horizontal axis B perpendicular to said first axis A; a motor drive unit 6 driving upper flywheel 3; a tensioning unit 8 for wire 5 associated with lower flywheel 4; a carriage 22 which can move in the direction of the said diamond-coated wire 5 equipped with a supporting plane 27 supporting a block of stone 28 which is to be cut, said supporting plane 27 being capable of rotating about a vertical axis and moving horizontally, being of one piece with carriage 22, in accordance with predetermined operating stages; two pairs of guide pulleys 30 between which diamond-coated wire 5 runs, located on opposite sides of block 28 respectively with respect to the position of diamond-coated wire 5. |
