Coherent optical telecommunications device comprising a first transmitting laser (LS) supplying a first incident wave, at the angular frequency omega S, means (100) for modulating the incident wave by a signal to be transmitted, an optical transmission line (110), a second detection laser (LL) supplying a second detection wave, at the angular frequency omega L, an optical coupler (130) for the said first and second waves, an optical detector (150) supplying an output signal at the angular frequency ¦ omega S- omega L¦, and means (170) for demodulating the output signal in order to reproduce the signal to be transmitted. According to the invention, the said first (LS) and second (LL) lasers are lasers which are absolutely and independently stabilised in frequency on a reference wavelength. Application to coherent optical telecommunications, especially to semiconductor lasers. <IMAGE>
