PURPOSE: To obtain an auxiliary added to dye for dyeing a lipophilic substrate. CONSTITUTION: This organic compound comprises a product (E) obtainable by reaction of a condensation product (K) of (a) formaldehyde or a formaldehyde-yielding compound with (b) at least one (1-5C alkyl)-phenol and (c) at least one amine that contains at least two NH-groups that are reactive with formaldehyde [with the proviso that 1 mole±5 mole % (c) and 1.6 to 2.4 moles of formaldehyde (a) or the corresponding amount of a formaldehyde- yielding compound (a) per mole of (1-5C alkyl)-phenol (b) are employed] with (d) alkylene oxide and optionally styrene oxide and optionally quaternization of the reaction product and/or modification thereof by introduction of at least one anionic group, or a mixture of products (E).
