PURPOSE:To provide a process for eliminating the shrinkage and fluff of a spun silk yarn to solve the problems of the yarn as a material for Western-style dress and improving the quality of the silk yarn without deteriorating the merits of silk. CONSTITUTION:A silk yarn is immersed and heat-treated in a treating bath produced by dissolving 1-10g of a metal alcoholate, 10-100g of water and 50-250g of an epoxy compound in 1 liter of a solvent composed mainly of an alcoholic solvent. The alcoholic solvent is preferably a lower alcohol, which may be incorporated with an aromatic or halogenated hydrocarbon solvent. The metal alcoholate is preferably a lower alcoholate (e.g. methylate, ethylate, propylate or butylate) of sodium or potassium or a mixture of two or more kinds of the above alcoholates. |
