<p>PURPOSE:To transmit high-quality data by automatically switching an encoding rate corresponding to the frequency of using a terminal, increasing the encoding rate when there is scope in a processing, and decreasing the encoding rate when there is noscope. CONSTITUTION:For a voice signal from a voice terminal 10, the encoding rate is inputted to a coder 140 of 32kbps and an encoder 142 of 24kbps, and a selector 200 selects any one of outputs from the two kinds of encoders and inputs it to a cellcellulating part 162. The cellulating part 162 converts the encoded voice data to the cell of a fixed length containing a label for identifying a destination terminal and a path. When a terminal 11 is an HDLC terminal, the cellulating part 164 converts only the valid data of the data from the terminal 11 to the above-mentioned cell as an object. A cell multiplexing part 160 successively fetches cells generated at cellulating parts 162 and 164 and transmits them to a network so as to execute statistical multiplexing. A monitor part 180 counts the number of terminals, controls each selector 200 and adjusts the encoding rate.</p> |
