Process for the manufacture of a mortar or concrete including, in desired proportions, a cement, solid aggregates and optional adjuvants, the whole being mixed and then water being added. According to the invention a certain quantity of a silica-based natural mineral in a micronised state, in particular diatomite, is added to the mixture of cement and of aggregates. The invention also covers the diatomites employed as aggregates and the mortars or concretes thus produced.
