<p>An arrestor mechanism primarily to prevent unauthorised vehicles from entering demarcated areas such as military establishments comprises a plurality of parallel lengths of wire rope (8) extending across a road to be protected between a pair of anchor members (2) located one to each side of the road, and a pair of posts (6), one to each side of the road, each pivotal between an inoperative position substantially parallel with the ground and an operative upright position. The posts (6) are held by retainer means (12) in their inoperative positions, and, on release of said retainer means (12), are immediately pivoted by resilient means (16,32) into their upright positions, the wire ropes (8) being attached to said posts (6) whereby, on said upward pivoting movement of the posts (6) into their operative positions, the wire ropes (8) are themselves raised from inoperative positions on the ground to operative positions extending across the road above the surface thereof. <IMAGE></p> |
