PURPOSE: To provide a wire mounting device and wire mounting method in which the deformation of a connector contact generating when a wire is mounted on a contact within a data connector is prevented, and a strain relief is mounted without removing a connector from the wire mounting device after the wire is mounted. CONSTITUTION: A wire 25 is mounted on a connector 10 in which contact pairs facing in opposite directions are continuously arranged, with a pair of ram assemblies 54. The ram assembly 54 has a knife blade 56 for pushing the wire into a contact. The knife blade 56 has a contact protection assembly 64, and prevents the deformation of the contact by interposing the contact during wire mounting. A mounting device 40 mounts the wire on the contact, then mounts the connector on strain reliefs 26, 28. |
