PURPOSE:To facilitate the formation of a barrier rib and thicken an electrode to reduce the impedance by forming an electrode groove of a determined form on the surface of a back plate by means of sand blast method, and forming a discharge electrode in this groove. CONSTITUTION:In a position opposite to a front part 50 in which anodes 50b are buried in the lower surface of a front base plate 50a, a back part 60 is provided. In the back part 60, a plurality of electrode grooves are formed on a glass back base plate 60a by means of sand blast method at a determined depth from the surface so as to cross the anode 50 at right angles, and electrode materials for cathodes 60b are buried in the grooves. Further, to separate the cathodes 60b as discharge cells, barrier ribs 60c for discharge space formation crossing the cathodes 60b at right angles are formed. Thus, the barrier rib formed surface is smoothed to facilitate the formation of the barrier ribs, and the thickness of the electrode is increased to reduce the impedance of the discharge electrode. |
