UNIVERSAL SUPPORT BRACKET FOR AN ELECTRICAL BOX

A support bracket supports different depths of electrical boxes recessed in hollow wall structures of different depths. The bracket replaces short pieces of wood or steel that were cut in the field and attached at the time of installation. The bracket comprises a flat strip of sheet material, first and second ends of the strip having respective end flange portions substantially perpendicular to a main body portion, the end flange portions adapted to support the bracket against inside surfaces of the opposing wallboards, a mounting flange extending substantially perpendicular from the main body portion, and intermediate mounting means to attach the mounting flange to a rear surface of an electrical box.
