The invention concerns a device for treating a liquid, in particular water, the device having a channel (1) through which the liquid flows and a permanent-magnet exciter (2) which produces a magnetic field passing at right angles across the channel (1). In order to ensure an efficient effect, the invention proposes that the exciter (2) have poles or pole pieces of opposite polarity located on opposite sides of the channel (1) and that the flux density of the magnetic field across the channel varies repeatedly by at least 5 gauss in at least one-millimetre steps in the direction of flow of the liquid. |
