PURPOSE:To obtain continuously a thermoplastic elastomer having high oil resistance and high rubber elasticity by perfectly crosslinking by dynamic heat treatment a mixture prepared by adding a softener to the two components of a specified rubber component and a specified resin component. CONSTITUTION:20-80 pts.wt. crumb-like ethylene/propylene/nonconjugated diene copolymer rubber (A), 80-20 pts.wt. polyolefinic resin and/or a modified polyolefinic resin (B) (e.g. polypropylene resin or a resin prepared by modifying the resin with a polar monomer) and 20-200 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. component A, softener (C) (desirably paraffinic, naphthenic or polybutene softener) are directly fed to a twin-screw extruder, and the mixture is perfectly crosslinked by dynamic heat treatment with a crosslinking agent (a known crosslinking agent other than a peroxide, such as sulfur). In this way, a thermoplastic elastomer having high rubber elasticity and sufficient oil resistance can be produced economically more profitably by adopting a continuous process. |
