The invention relates to a device for reducing the noise level of a data printer or like machine having an elongated intake and/or discharge opening 3 for objects in a wall 1 in a cover belonging to the machine. The device comprises an element 11 which is movable between a closed position for closure of substantially the whole of the opening 3 and at least one open position for allowing the intake or discharge of objects through the opening 3. According to the invention, the movable element is configured as a moulding 11, which is connected to the wall 1 of the cover for movement about an axle 9 which is substantially parallel with the wall 1 and with the longitudinal direction of the opening 3. The axle 9 is placed such that the moulding 11, under the influence of gravity, is swivelled into a closed position against a support surface 4. The moulding is profiled with a cross- sectional form comprising a first part 13 and a second part 14, which together form a convex surface on that side of the moulding which is closest to the support surface 4. <IMAGE> |
