PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of ultraviolet rays and to obtain the plasma display of a large screen by spreading light emission capsules of red, green and blue all over the surface by desired resolution. CONSTITUTION:A red light emission capsule 1 in which a gas body for emitting red light is enclosed, a green light emission capsule 2 in which a gas body for emitting green light is enclosed, and a blue light emission capsule 3 in which a gas body for emitting blue light is enclosed are spread all over a bottom glass substrate 4 by desired resolution, and the upper glass substrate 6 is provided opposingly. Subsequently, a data electrode 5 and a scanning electrode 8 are provided on the bottom glass substrate 4 and the upper glass substrate 6, respectively, and an AC electric field is applied thereto. As for each light emission microcapsule 1-3, the side face direction is shielded, and only the vertical direction is transparent and allows light to pass through.
